1 ULB जो शिक्षा पाने से प्रीति रखता है वह ज्ञान से प्रीति रखता है, परन्तु जो डाँट से बैर रखता, वह पशु के समान मूर्ख है। BSB BSB: Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
2 ULB भले मनुष्य से तो यहोवा प्रसन्न होता है, परन्तु बुरी युक्ति करनेवाले को वह दोषी ठहराता है। BSB BSB: The good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a man who devises evil.
3 ULB कोई मनुष्य दुष्टता के कारण स्थिर नहीं होता, परन्तु धर्मियों की जड़ उखड़ने की नहीं। BSB BSB: A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.
4 ULB भली स्त्री अपने पति का मुकुट* है, परन्तु जो लज्जा के काम करती वह मानो उसकी हड्डियों के सड़ने का कारण होती है। BSB BSB: A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but she who causes shame is like decay in his bones.
5 ULB धर्मियों की कल्पनाएँ न्याय ही की होती हैं, परन्तु दुष्टों की युक्तियाँ छल की हैं। BSB BSB: The plans of the righteous are just, but the counsel of the wicked leads to deceit.
6 ULB दुष्टों की बातचीत हत्या करने के लिये घात लगाने के समान होता है, परन्तु सीधे लोग अपने मुँह की बात के द्वारा छुड़ानेवाले होते हैं। BSB BSB: The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.
7 ULB जब दुष्ट लोग उलटे जाते हैं तब वे रहते ही नहीं, परन्तु धर्मियों का घर स्थिर रहता है। BSB BSB: The wicked are overthrown and perish, but the house of the righteous will stand.
8 ULB मनुष्य कि बुद्धि के अनुसार उसकी प्रशंसा होती है, परन्तु कुटिल तुच्छ जाना जाता है। BSB BSB: A man is praised according to his wisdom, but a twisted mind is despised.
9 ULB जिसके पास खाने को रोटी तक नहीं, पर अपने बारे में डींगे मारता है, उससे दास रखनेवाला साधारण मनुष्य ही उत्तम है। BSB BSB: Better to be lightly esteemed yet have a servant, than to be self-important but lack food.
11 ULB जो अपनी भूमि को जोतता, वह पेट भर खाता है, परन्तु जो निकम्मों की संगति करता, वह निर्बुद्धि ठहरता है। BSB BSB: The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies lacks judgment.
12 ULB दुष्ट जन बुरे लोगों के लूट के माल की अभिलाषा करते हैं, परन्तु धर्मियों की जड़ें हरी भरी रहती है। BSB BSB: The wicked desire the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes.
13 ULB बुरा मनुष्य अपने दुर्वचनों के कारण फंदे में फँसता है, परन्तु धर्मी संकट से निकास पाता है। BSB BSB: An evil man is trapped by his rebellious speech, but a righteous man escapes from trouble.
14 ULB सज्जन अपने वचनों के फल के द्वारा भलाई से तृप्त होता है, और जैसी जिसकी करनी वैसी उसकी भरनी होती है। BSB BSB: By fruitful speech a man is filled with good things, and the work of his hands returns to him.
15 ULB मूर्ख को अपनी ही चाल सीधी जान पड़ती है, परन्तु जो सम्मति मानता, वह बुद्धिमान है। BSB BSB: The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to counsel.
16 ULB मूर्ख की रिस तुरन्त प्रगट हो जाती है*, परन्तु विवेकी मनुष्य अपमान को अनदेखा करता है। BSB BSB: A fool’s anger is known at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.
17 ULB जो सच बोलता है, वह धर्म प्रगट करता है, परन्तु जो झूठी साक्षी देता, वह छल प्रगट करता है। BSB BSB: He who speaks the truth declares what is right, but a false witness speaks deceit.
18 ULB ऐसे लोग हैं जिनका बिना सोच विचार का बोलना तलवार के समान चुभता है, परन्तु बुद्धिमान के बोलने से लोग चंगे होते हैं। BSB BSB: Speaking rashly is like a piercing sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 ULB सच्चाई सदा बनी रहेगी, परन्तु झूठ पल भर का होता है। BSB BSB: Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 ULB बुरी युक्ति करनेवालों के मन में छल रहता है*, परन्तु मेल की युक्ति करनेवालों को आनन्द होता है। BSB BSB: Deceit is in the hearts of those who devise evil, but the counselors of peace have joy.
21 ULB धर्मी को हानि नहीं होती है, परन्तु दुष्ट लोग सारी विपत्ति में डूब जाते हैं। BSB BSB: No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.
22 ULB झूठों से यहोवा को घृणा आती है परन्तु जो ईमानदारी से काम करते हैं, उनसे वह प्रसन्न होता है। BSB BSB: Lying lips are detestable to the LORD, but those who deal faithfully are His delight.
23 ULB विवेकी मनुष्य ज्ञान को प्रगट नहीं करता है, परन्तु मूर्ख अपने मन की मूर्खता ऊँचे शब्द से प्रचार करता है। BSB BSB: A shrewd man keeps his knowledge to himself, but a foolish heart proclaims its folly.
24 ULB कामकाजी लोग प्रभुता करते हैं, परन्तु आलसी बेगार में पकड़े जाते हैं। BSB BSB: The hand of the diligent will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.
25 ULB उदास मन दब जाता है, परन्तु भली बात से वह आनन्दित होता है। BSB BSB: Anxiety weighs down the heart of a man, but a good word cheers it up.
26 ULB धर्मी अपने पड़ोसी की अगुआई करता है, परन्तु दुष्ट लोग अपनी ही चाल के कारण भटक जाते हैं। BSB BSB: A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the ways of the wicked lead them astray.
27 ULB आलसी अहेर का पीछा नहीं करता, परन्तु कामकाजी को अनमोल वस्तु मिलती है। BSB BSB: A lazy man does not roast his game, but a diligent man prizes his possession.
28 ULB धर्म के मार्ग में जीवन मिलता है, और उसके पथ में मृत्यु का पता भी नहीं। BSB BSB: There is life in the path of righteousness, but another path leads to death.
