ISL316
Loks komu þeir í land hinum megin við vatnið, í landi Gerasenanna.
BSB
BSB:
On the other side of the sea, they arrived in the region of the Gerasenes.
2
ISL316
Þegar Jesús steig frá borði mætti honum maður sem var haldinn óhreinum anda.
BSB
BSB:
As soon as Jesus got out of the boat, He was met by a man with an unclean spirit, who was coming from the tombs.
3
ISL316
Þessi maður dvaldi í grafreit – sama hvað fólk reyndi að gera til að binda hann fastan
BSB
BSB:
This man had been living in the tombs and could no longer be restrained, even with chains.
4
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Though he was often bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and shattered the shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to subdue him.
5
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
Night and day in the tombs and in the mountains he kept crying out and cutting himself with stones.
6
ISL316
En þegar hann sá Jesú úr fjarska hljóp hann til hans með miklum látum.
BSB
BSB:
When the man saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees before Him.
7
ISL316
„Hvað vilt þú mér, Jesús, sonur hins hæsta Guðs?“ hrópaði hann. „Í guðanna bænum, láttu mig vera!“
BSB
BSB:
And he shouted in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You before God not to torture me!”
8
ISL316
„Farðu út úr þessum manni, óhreini andi!“ svaraði Jesús honum.
BSB
BSB:
For Jesus had already declared,
“Come out of this man, you unclean spirit!”
9
ISL316
„Hvað heitir þú?“ spurði hann andann. „Ég heiti Fjöldi,“ svaraði andinn, „því við erum margir.
BSB
BSB:
“What is your name?”
Jesus asked. “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.”
10
ISL316
Ekki reka okkur héðan burt, ég bið þig!
BSB
BSB:
And he begged Jesus repeatedly not to send them out of that region.
11
ISL316
Í fjöllunum héðan skammt frá er stór svínahjörð á beit.
BSB
BSB:
There on the nearby hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding.
12
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
So the demons begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs, so that we may enter them.”
13
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
He gave them permission, and the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs, and the herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the water.
14
ISL316
Svínahirðarnir hlupu og sögðu frá því sem þeir höfðu séð um allt svæðið, og fólk kom hvaðanæva að til að sjá það sem hafði gerst.
BSB
BSB:
Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.
15
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
16
ISL316
Þeir sem höfðu orðið vitni að því sem gerðist sögðu fólkinu alla söguna af andsetna manninum og svínunum
BSB
BSB:
Those who had seen it described what had happened to the demon-possessed man and also to the pigs.
17
ISL316
og fólkið bað Jesú um að yfirgefa svæðið.
BSB
BSB:
And the people began to beg Jesus to leave their region.
18
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by the demons begged to go with Him.
19
ISL316
„Nei,“ sagði Jesús. „Farðu frekar heim til vina þinna og fjölskyldu og segðu þeim hvað Drottinn hefur gert fyrir þig og hvernig hann hefur sýnt þér miskunn.“
BSB
BSB:
But Jesus would not allow him.
“Go home to your own people,”
He said,
“and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy He has shown you.”
20
ISL316
Og maðurinn fór því af stað, ferðaðist um Dekapólissvæðið og sagði frá öllu því stórkostlega sem Jesús hafði gert fyrir hann.
BSB
BSB:
So the man went away and began to proclaim throughout the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And everyone was amazed.
21
ISL316
Þegar Jesús hafði siglt til baka yfir vatnið safnaðist mikill mannfjöldi í kringum hann við ströndina.
BSB
BSB:
When Jesus had again crossed by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him beside the sea.
22
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
A synagogue leader named Jairus arrived, and seeing Jesus, he fell at His feet
23
ISL316
„Litla dóttir mín er fárveik og er við dauðans dyr,“ hrópaði hann. „Komdu með mér, gerðu það, og bjargaðu lífi hennar með því að snerta hana.“
BSB
BSB:
and pleaded with Him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be healed and live.”
24
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around Him.
25
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
And a woman was there who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years.
26
ISL316
Hún hafði eytt aleigunni í ótal erfiðar læknismeðferðir, án nokkurs árangurs – henni hafði bara versnað.
BSB
BSB:
She had borne much agony under the care of many physicians and had spent all she had, but to no avail. Instead, her condition had only grown worse.
27
ISL316
Hún hafði heyrt um Jesú og barðist þess vegna að honum í gegnum mannfjöldann og snerti föt hans.
BSB
BSB:
When the woman heard about Jesus, she came up through the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.
28
ISL316
„Ef ég næ bara að snerta fötin hans,“ hugsaði hún með sér, „hlýtur mér að batna.“
BSB
BSB:
For she kept saying, “If only I touch His garments, I will be healed.”
29
ISL316
Um leið og hún snerti hann hættu blæðingarnar, og hún fann að hún hafði læknast.
BSB
BSB:
Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she sensed in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
30
ISL316
Við þetta fann Jesús að kraftur hafði runnið frá honum. Hann sneri sér við. „Hver snerti fötin mín?“ spurði hann.
BSB
BSB:
At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked,
“Who touched My garments?”
31
ISL316
„Það er fólk allt í kringum okkur,“ sögðu lærisveinarnir. „Hvernig geturðu spurt hver hafi snert þig?“
BSB
BSB:
His disciples answered, “You can see the crowd pressing in on You, and yet You ask,
‘Who touched Me?’”
32
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
But He kept looking around to see who had done this.
33
ISL316
Konan skalf af hræðslu, því hún vissi hvað hafði gerst. Hún féll á kné fyrir framan Jesú og sagði honum alla söguna.
BSB
BSB:
Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him trembling in fear, and she told Him the whole truth.
34
ISL316
„Kæra dóttir,“ sagði hann við hana, „Það er trúin þín sem hefur bjargað þér. Þetta er allt í lagi. Farðu nú og njóttu heilsunnar.“
BSB
BSB:
“Daughter,”
said Jesus,
“your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”
35
ISL316
Meðan hann var að tala við konuna kom fólk frá húsi samkomuhússtjórans. „Dóttir þín er látin,“ sagði það honum. „Þú þarft víst ekki að ónáða kennarann lengur.“
BSB
BSB:
While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”
36
ISL316
En Jesús heyrði þetta. „Óttastu ekki,“ sagði hann við samkomuhússtjórann, „heldur hafðu trú.“
BSB
BSB:
But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus,
“Do not be afraid; just believe.”
37
ISL316
Og hann hélt einn áfram með Pétri og bræðrunum Jakobi og Jóhannesi
BSB
BSB:
And He did not allow anyone to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
38
ISL316
að heimili samkomuhússtjórans, þar sem allir voru harmi slegnir yfir andláti litlu stelpunnar, og steig inn.
BSB
BSB:
When they arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion and the people weeping and wailing loudly.
39
ISL316
„Hvaða sorgarlæti eru þetta?“ sagði hann. „Stelpan er ekki dáin – hún sefur bara.“
BSB
BSB:
He went inside and asked,
“Why all this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead, but asleep.”
40
ISL316
BSB
BSB:
And they laughed at Him. After He had put them all outside, He took the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and went in to see the child.
41
ISL316
Hann tók í hönd hennar og sagði við hana „Talíþa kúmí,“ sem þýðir „Vaknaðu, litla stúlka.“
BSB
BSB:
Taking her by the hand, Jesus said,
“Talitha koum!”
which means,
“Little girl, I say to you, get up!”
42
ISL316
Við það vaknaði þessi tólf ára stelpa og stóð á fætur. Fólkið trúði ekki sínum eigin augum.
BSB
BSB:
Immediately the girl got up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). And at once they were utterly astounded.
43
ISL316
Jesús skipaði þeim að segja engum frá þessu, og sagði þeim að gefa stelpunni eitthvað að borða.
BSB
BSB:
Then Jesus gave strict orders that no one should know about this, and He told them to give her something to eat.
