Luke 23 (MAL10)

1അനന്തരം അവർ എല്ലാവരും കൂട്ടമേ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി:Then the whole council rose and led Jesus away to Pilate.

2ഇവൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജാതിയെ മറിച്ചുകളകയും താൻ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന രാജാവാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു കൈസർക്കു കരം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു വിരോധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതായി ഞങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു എന്നു കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിത്തുടങ്ങി.And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding payment of taxes to Caesar, and proclaiming Himself to be Christ, a King.”

3പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടു: നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു:ഞാൻ ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied.

4പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും പുരുഷാരത്തോടും: ഞാൻ ഈ മനുഷ്യനിൽ കുറ്റം ഒന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”

5അതിന്നു അവർ: അവൻ ഗലീലയിൽ തുടങ്ങി യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ എങ്ങും ഇവിടത്തോളവും പഠിപ്പിച്ചു ജനത്തെ കലഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിഷ്കർഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people all over Judea with His teaching. He began in Galilee and has come all the way here.”

6ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഗലീലക്കാരനോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് ചോദിച്ചു;When Pilate heard this, he asked if the man was a Galilean.

7ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അധികാരത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടവൻ എന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു, അന്നു യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്നു പാർക്കുന്ന ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അവനെ അയച്ചു.And learning that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself was in Jerusalem at that time.

8ഹെരോദാവു യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കാണ്മാൻ വളരെക്കാലമായി ഇച്ഛിച്ചു, അവൻ വല്ല അടയാളവും ചെയ്യുന്നതു കാണാം എന്നു ആശിച്ചിരുന്നു.When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a miracle.

9ഏറിയോന്നു ചോദിച്ചിട്ടും അവൻ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.Herod questioned Jesus at great length, but He gave no answer.

10മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും കഠിനമായി അവനെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നു.Meanwhile, the chief priests and scribes stood there, vehemently accusing Him.

11ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ പടയാളികളുമായി അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു നിസ്സാരനാക്കി ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടക്കി അയച്ചു.And even Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked Him. Dressing Him in a fine robe, they sent Him back to Pilate.

12അന്നു ഹെരോദാവും പീലാത്തൊസും തമ്മിൽ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരായിത്തീർന്നു; മുമ്പെ അവർ തമ്മിൽ വൈരമായിരുന്നു.That day Herod and Pilate became friends; before this time they had been enemies.

13പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും പ്രമാണികളെയും ജനത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു കൂട്ടി.Then Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,

14അവരോടു: ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ജനത്തെ മത്സരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾ ചുമത്തിയ കുറ്റം ഒന്നും ഇവനിൽ കണ്ടില്ല;and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined Him here in your presence and found Him not guilty of your charges against Him.

15ഹെരോദാവും കണ്ടില്ല; അവൻ അവനെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ മടക്കി അയച്ചുവല്ലോ; ഇവൻ മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല സ്പഷ്ടം;Neither has Herod, for he sent Him back to us. As you can see, He has done nothing deserving of death.

16അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അവനെ അടിപ്പിച്ചു വിട്ടയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.Therefore I will punish Him and release Him.”

17ഇവനെ നീക്കിക്കളക; ബറബ്ബാസിനെ വിട്ടു തരിക എന്നു എല്ലാവരുംകൂടെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.Not in the BSB

18ഉത്സവന്തോറും ഒരുത്തനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നുBut they all cried out in unison: “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!”

19അവനോ നഗരത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ഒരു കലഹവും കൊലയും ഹേതുവായി തടവിലായവൻ ആയിരുന്നു.(Barabbas had been imprisoned for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)

20പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ വിടുവിപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു പിന്നെയും അവരോടു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate addressed them again,

21അവരോ: അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു എതിരെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.but they kept shouting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”

22അവൻ മൂന്നാമതും അവരോടു: അവൻ ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എന്തു? മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും അവനിൽ കണ്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അവനെ അടിപ്പിച്ചു വിട്ടയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.A third time he said to them, “What evil has this man done? I have found in Him no offense worthy of death. So after I punish Him, I will release Him.”

23അവരോ അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉറക്കെ മുട്ടിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു; അവരുടെ നിലവിളി ഫലിച്ചു;But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices for Jesus to be crucified. And their clamor prevailed.

24അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് വിധിച്ചു,So Pilate sentenced that their demand be met.

25കലഹവും കൊലയും ഹേതുവായി തടവിലായവനെ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷപോലെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കയും യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.As they had requested, he released the one imprisoned for insurrection and murder, and he handed Jesus over to their will.

26അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമ്പോൾ വയലിൽ നിന്നു വരുന്ന ശിമോൻ എന്ന ഒരു കുറേനക്കാരനെ അവർ പിടിച്ചു ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പിച്ചു യേശുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടക്കുമാറാക്കി.As the soldiers led Him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene on his way in from the country, and they put the cross on him to carry behind Jesus.

27ഒരു വലിയ ജനസമൂഹവും അവനെച്ചൊല്ലി വിലപിച്ചു മുറയിടുന്ന അനേകം സ്ത്രീകളും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.A great number of people followed Him, including women who kept mourning and wailing for Him.

28യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരെ നോക്കി:യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി കരയേണ്ടാ, നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെയും ചൊല്ലി കരവിൻ.But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

29മച്ചികളും പ്രസവിക്കാത്ത ഉദരങ്ങളും കുടിപ്പിക്കാത്ത മുലകളും ഭാഗ്യമുള്ളവ എന്നു പറയുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു.Look, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore, and breasts that never nursed!’

30അന്നു മലകളോടു: ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ വീഴുവിൻ എന്നും കുന്നുകളോടു: ഞങ്ങളെ മൂടുവിൻ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങും.At that time ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!”’

31പച്ചമരത്തോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്താൽ ഉണങ്ങിയതിന്നു എന്തു ഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.For if men do these things while the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

32ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരായ വേറെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.Two others, who were criminals, were also led away to be executed with Jesus.

33തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ അവിടെ അവനെയും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരെയും, ഒരുത്തനെ വലത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇടത്തുമായി, ക്രൂശിച്ചു.When they came to the place called The Skull, they crucified Him there, along with the criminals, one on His right and the other on His left.

34എന്നാൽ യേശു:പിതാവേ, ഇവർ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഇന്നതു എന്നു അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഇവരോടു ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അനന്തരം അവർ അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വിഭാഗിച്ചു ചീട്ടിട്ടു.Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up His garments by casting lots.

35ജനം നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നു. ഇവൻ മറുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചുവല്ലോ; ദൈവം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ക്രിസ്തു എങ്കിൽ തന്നെത്താൻ രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രധാനികളും പരിഹസിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.The people stood watching, and the rulers sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.”

36പടയാളികളും അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു അടുത്തു വന്നു അവന്നു പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു കാണിച്ചു.The soldiers also mocked Him and came up to offer Him sour wine.

37നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എങ്കിൽ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ രക്ഷിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.“If You are the King of the Jews,” they said, “save Yourself!”

38ഇവൻ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും അവന്റെ മീതെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.Above Him was posted an inscription: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39തൂക്കിയ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ: നീ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ലയോ? നിന്നെത്തന്നേയും ഞങ്ങളെയും രക്ഷിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ദുഷിച്ചു.One of the criminals who hung there heaped abuse on Him. “Are You not the Christ?” he said. “Save Yourself and us!”

40മറ്റവനോ അവനെ ശാസിച്ചു: സമശിക്ഷാവിധിയിൽ തന്നേ ആയിട്ടും നീ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലയോ?But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same judgment?

41നാമോ ന്യായമായിട്ടു ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു; നാം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതിന്നു യോഗ്യമായതല്ലോ കിട്ടുന്നതു; ഇവനോ അരുതാത്തതു ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.We are punished justly, for we are receiving what our actions deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

42പിന്നെ അവൻ: യേശുവേ, നീ രാജത്വം പ്രാപിച്ചു വരുമ്പോൾ എന്നെ ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”

43യേശു അവനോടു:ഇന്നു നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പറുദീസയിൽ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായി നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.And Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

44ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണി നേരമായപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ ഇരുണ്ടുപോയിട്ടു ഒമ്പതാം മണിവരെ ദേശത്തു ഒക്കെയും അന്ധകാരം ഉണ്ടായി.It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour.

45ദൈവമന്ദിരത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല നടുവെ ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn down the middle.

46യേശു അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽപിതാവേ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തൃക്കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു; ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” And when He had said this, He breathed His last.

47ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതു ശതാധിപൻ കണ്ടിട്ടു: ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ വാസ്തവമായി നീതിമാൻ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.When the centurion saw what had happened, he gave glory to God, saying, “Surely this was a righteous man.”

48കാണ്മാൻ കൂടി വന്ന പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും സംഭവിച്ചതു കണ്ടിട്ടു മാറത്തടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.And when all the people who had gathered for this spectacle saw what had happened, they returned home beating their breasts.

49അവന്റെ പരിചയക്കാർ എല്ലാവരും ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ച സ്ത്രീകളും ഇതു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു.But all those who knew Jesus, including the women who had followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching these things.

50അരിമത്യ എന്നൊരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണക്കാരനായി നല്ലവനും നീതിമാനും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ കാത്തിരുന്നവനുമായ യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു മന്ത്രിNow there was a Council member named Joseph, a good and righteous man,

51‒ അവൻ അവരുടെ ആലോചനെക്കും പ്രവൃത്തിക്കും അനുകൂലമല്ലായിരുന്നു ‒who had not consented to their decision or action. He was from the Judean town of Arimathea and was waiting for the kingdom of God.

52പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം ചോദിച്ചു,He went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus.

53അതു ഇറക്കി ഒരു ശീലയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞു പാറയിൽ വെട്ടിയിരുന്നതും ആരെയും ഒരിക്കലും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ കല്ലറയിൽ വെച്ചു.Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had yet been laid.

54അന്നു ഒരുക്കനാൾ ആയിരുന്നു, ശബ്ബത്തും ആരംഭിച്ചു.It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was beginning.

55ഗലീലയിൽ നിന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ പോന്ന സ്ത്രീകളും പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു കല്ലറയും അവന്റെ ശരീരം വെച്ച വിധവും കണ്ടിട്ടുThe women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was placed.

56മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗവും പരിമളതൈലവും ഒരുക്കി; കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു ശബ്ബത്തിൽ സ്വസ്ഥമായിരന്നു.Then they returned to prepare spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.
