1അതിന് തേമാന്യനായ എലീഫസ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്:Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied:

2“ജ്ഞാനിയായവൻ വ്യർത്ഥജ്ഞാനം പ്രസ്താവിക്കുമോ? അവൻ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റുകൊണ്ട് വയറുനിറയ്ക്കുമോ?“Does a wise man answer with empty counsel or fill his belly with the hot east wind?

3അവൻ പ്രയോജനമില്ലാത്ത വാക്കുകളാലും ഉപകാരമില്ലാത്ത മൊഴികളാലും തർക്കിക്കുമോ?Should he argue with useless words or speeches that serve no purpose?

4നീ ഭക്തി വെടിഞ്ഞ് ദൈവസന്നിധിയിലെ ധ്യാനം മുടക്കിക്കളയുന്നു.But you even undermine the fear of God and hinder meditation before Him.

5നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം നിന്റെ വായെ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; ഉപായികളുടെ നാവ് നീ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.For your iniquity instructs your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.

6ഞാനല്ല, നിന്റെ സ്വന്തവായ് നിന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങൾ തന്നെ നിന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു.Your own mouth, not mine, condemns you; your own lips testify against you.

7നീയോ ആദ്യം ജനിച്ച മനുഷ്യൻ? പർവ്വതങ്ങൾക്കും മുമ്പ് നീ പിറന്നുവോ?Were you the first man ever born? Were you brought forth before the hills?

8നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലോചനസഭയിൽ കൂടിയിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ജ്ഞാനം നിന്റെ അവകാശം ആണോ?Do you listen in on the council of God or limit wisdom to yourself?

9ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് അറിയാത്തതായി നിനക്ക് എന്ത് അറിയാം? ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് മനസ്സിലാകാത്തതായി നീ എന്താണ് ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്?What do you know that we do not? What do you understand that is not clear to us?

10ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നരച്ചവരും വൃദ്ധന്മാരും ഉണ്ട്; നിന്റെ അപ്പനേക്കാൾ പ്രായം ചെന്നവർ തന്നെ.Both the gray-haired and the aged are on our side—men much older than your father.

11ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആശ്വാസങ്ങളും സ്വന്തമായി പറഞ്ഞുതരുന്ന വാക്കും നിനക്ക് പോരയോ?Are the consolations of God not enough for you, even words spoken gently to you?

12നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിന്നെ പതറിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്? നിന്റെ കണ്ണ് ജ്വലിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്?Why has your heart carried you away, and why do your eyes flash,

13നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നേരെ തിരിയുകയും നിന്റെ വായിൽനിന്ന് ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വാക്കുകൾ പുറപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.so that you turn your spirit against God and pour such words from your mouth?

14മർത്യൻ ശുദ്ധിമാനായിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ? സ്ത്രീ പ്രസവിച്ചവൻ നീതിമാനായിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?What is man, that he should be pure, or one born of woman, that he should be righteous?

15തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരിലും ദൈവത്തിന് വിശ്വാസമില്ലല്ലോ; സ്വർഗ്ഗവും അവിടുത്തെ കണ്ണിന് നിർമ്മലമല്ല.If God puts no trust in His holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in His eyes,

16പിന്നെ വെറുപ്പും വഷളത്തവുമുള്ളവനായി വെള്ളംപോലെ അകൃത്യം കുടിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യൻ എങ്ങനെ?how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks injustice like water?

17ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കാം, കേട്ടുകൊള്ളുക; ഞാൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളത് വിവരിച്ചുപറയാം.Listen to me and I will inform you. I will describe what I have seen,

18ജ്ഞാനികൾ അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് കേൾക്കുകയും മറച്ചുവയ്ക്കാതെ അറിയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തതു തന്നേ.what was declared by wise men and was not concealed from their fathers,

19അവർക്കുമാത്രമാണല്ലോ ദേശം നല്കിയിരുന്നത്; അന്യൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ കടക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.to whom alone the land was given when no foreigner passed among them.

20ദുഷ്ടൻ ജീവപര്യന്തം അതിവേദനയോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഉപദ്രവകാരിക്ക് വച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ആണ്ടുകൾ തികയുവോളം തന്നെ.A wicked man writhes in pain all his days; only a few years are reserved for the ruthless.

21ഭീകരശബ്ദം അവന്റെ ചെവിയിൽ മുഴങ്ങുന്നു; സുഖമായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ കവർച്ചക്കാരൻ അവന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു.Sounds of terror fill his ears; in his prosperity the destroyer attacks him.

22അന്ധകാരത്തിൽനിന്ന് മടങ്ങിവരുമെന്ന് അവൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവൻ വാളിനിരയാകാൻ നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.He despairs of his return from darkness; he is marked for the sword.

23അവൻ അപ്പം തെണ്ടിനടക്കുന്നു; ‘അത് എവിടെ കിട്ടും’ എന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്നു? അന്ധകാരദിവസം തനിക്ക് അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവൻ അറിയുന്നു.He wanders about as food for vultures; he knows the day of darkness is at hand.

24കഷ്ടവും മനഃപീഡയും അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; പടയ്ക്കൊരുങ്ങിയ രാജാവെന്നപോലെ അവനെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നു.Distress and anguish terrify him, overwhelming him like a king poised to attack.

25അവൻ ദൈവത്തിന് വിരോധമായി കൈ ഉയർത്തി, സർവ്വശക്തനോട് ധിക്കാരം കാട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നെ.For he has stretched out his hand against God and has vaunted himself against the Almighty,

26തന്റെ പരിചകളുടെ തടിച്ച മുഴകളോടുകൂടി അവൻ ശാഠ്യംകാണിച്ച് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നേരെ പാഞ്ഞുചെല്ലുന്നു.rushing headlong at Him with a thick, studded shield.

27അവൻ തന്റെ മുഖത്തെ മേദസ്സുകൊണ്ട് മൂടുന്നു; തന്റെ അരക്കെട്ടിന് കൊഴുപ്പ് കൂട്ടുന്നു.Though his face is covered with fat and his waistline bulges with flesh,

28അവൻ ശൂന്യനഗരങ്ങളിലും ആരും പാർക്കാതെ കൽകൂമ്പാരങ്ങളായിത്തീരുവാനുള്ള വീടുകളിലും പാർക്കുന്നു.he will dwell in ruined cities, in abandoned houses destined to become rubble.

29അവൻ ധനവാനാകുകയില്ല; അവന്റെ സമ്പത്ത് നിലനില്ക്കുകയില്ല; അവരുടെ വിളവ് നിലത്തേക്കു കുലച്ചു മറികയുമില്ല.He will no longer be rich; his wealth will not endure. His possessions will not overspread the land.

30ഇരുളിൽനിന്ന് അവൻ അകന്നു പോകുകയില്ല; അഗ്നിജ്വാല അവന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ ഉണക്കിക്കളയും; തിരുവായിലെ ശ്വാസംകൊണ്ട് അവൻ കടന്നുപോകും.He will not escape from the darkness; the flame will wither his shoots, and the breath of God’s mouth will carry him away.

31അവൻ വ്യാജത്തിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കരുത്; അത് സ്വയവഞ്ചനയത്രേ; അവന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം വ്യാജം തന്നെ ആയിരിക്കും.Let him not deceive himself with trust in emptiness, for emptiness will be his reward.

32അവന്റെ ദിവസം വരുംമുമ്പ് അത് നിവൃത്തിയാകും; അവന്റെ കൊമ്പുകൾ പച്ചയായിരിക്കുകയില്ല.It will be paid in full before his time, and his branch will not flourish.

33മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയിൽ നിന്ന് എന്നപോലെ അവന്റെ പക്വമാകാത്ത പഴങ്ങൾ കൊഴിഞ്ഞുവീഴും. ഒലിവുവൃക്ഷംപോലെ പൂ പൊഴിക്കും.He will be like a vine stripped of its unripe grapes, like an olive tree that sheds its blossoms.

34അഭക്തന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടം വന്ധ്യത പ്രാപിക്കും; കൈക്കൂലിയുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങൾ തീയ്ക്കിരയാകും.For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.

35അവർ കഷ്ടത്തെ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ച് തിന്മയെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഉദരം വഞ്ചനയെ ഉളവാക്കുന്നു.They conceive trouble and give birth to evil; their womb is pregnant with deceit.”
