1 UDB यतबेला त्यो निस्तार-चाड सुरु हुनुभन्दा अघिल्लो दिन थियो। उहाँको निम्ति यो संसार छोड्ने ेर, आफ्नो पिताकहाँ फर्किने समय भयो भनी येशू जान्नुहुन्थ्यो। जो उहाँसँग यहाँ यस संसारमा थिए तिनीहरूलाई उहाँले कति धेरै प्रेम गर्नुहुन्थ्यो भनी उहाँले देखाउनुभयो, र उहाँले तिनीहरूलाई आफ्नो जीवनको अन्तसम्म नै प्रेम गर्नुभयो। BSB BSB: It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end.
2 UDB येशू र उहाँका चेलाहरूले रात्री खाना खानुअघि नै, शैतानले पहिलेबाटै सिमोनका छोरा यहूदा इस्कोरियोतको मनमा विचार हालिसकेको थियो कि उसले येशूलाई उहाँका शत्रुहरूको हातमा सुम्पिदिेने छ। BSB BSB: The evening meal was underway, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.
3 UDB तापनि, उहाँको पिताले उहाँलाई हरेक कुरामाथि पुरा शक्ति र अधिकार दिनु भएको थियो भनी येशू जान्नुहुन्थ्यो। उहाँ आफैँ परमेश्वरबाट आउनु भएको थियो र चाँडै नै परमेश्वरमा फर्कनुहुने छ भन्ने पनि उहाँलाई थाहा थियो। BSB BSB: Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God.
4 UDB उहाँ खान बास्नु भएको ठाउँबाट उठ्नुभयो। उहाँले आफ्नो बाहिरी वस्त्र हटाउनु भयो र आफ्नो कम्मरमा एउटा तौलिया बेर्नुभयो। BSB BSB: So He got up from the supper, laid aside His outer garments, and wrapped a towel around His waist.
5 UDB एउटा बाटामा उहाँले अलिकति पानी खन्याउनु भयो र चेलाहरूका पाउहरू धुन र तौलियाले ती पुछ्न सुरु गर्नुभयो। BSB BSB: After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel that was around Him.
6 UDB उहाँ सिमोन पत्रुसकहाँ आउनुभयो, जसले उहाँलाई भने, “प्रभु, के तपाईं मेरा पाउहरू धुन जाँदै हुनुहुन्छ?” BSB BSB: He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”
7 UDB येशूले तिनलाई जवाफ दिनुभयो, “म तिम्रो निम्ति जे गर्दै छु त्यो तिमी अहिले बुझ्दैनौ तर पछि तिमीले बुझ्ने छौ।” BSB BSB: Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
8 UDB पत्रुसले भने, “तपाईं मेरो पाउहरू कदापि धुनु हुदैन!” येशूले तिनलाई जवाफ दिनुभयो, “यदि मैले तिमीलाई ्धोइन भने, त्यसपछि तिम्रो मसित कुनै सम्बन्ध हुँदैन।” BSB BSB: “Never shall You wash my feet!” Peter told Him. Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”
9 UDB यसैले सिमोन पत्रुसले उहाँलाई भने, “प्रभु, मेरो पाउहरू मात्र नधुनुहोस्! मेरा हातहरू र मेरो शिर पनि धुनुहोस्!” BSB BSB: “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not only my feet, but my hands and my head as well!”
10 UDB येशूले तिनलाई भन्नुभयो, “जसले नुहाई सकेको छ, उसको पाउहरू मात्रै धुनु आवश्यक छ। उसको शरीरको अरू भाग पहिले नै शुद्ध छ। तिमी शुद्ध छौ, तर तिमीहरू सबै छैनौ।” BSB BSB: Jesus told him, “Whoever has already bathed needs only to wash his feet, and he will be completely clean. And you are clean, though not all of you.”
11 UDB कसले उहाँलाई सुम्पिदिन जाँदै छ भनी उहाँ जान्नुहुन्थ्यो। त्यसकारणले उहाँले भन्नुभयो “तिमीहरू सबै शुद्ध छैनौ।” BSB BSB: For He knew who would betray Him. That is why He said, “Not all of you are clean.”
12 UDB उहाँले तिनीहरूका पाउहरू धोई सकेपछि, उहाँले फेरि आफ्नो बाहिरी वस्त्र लगाउनुभयो। त्यसपछि फरि आफ्नै ठाउँमा गएर बस्नुभयो र भन्नुभयो, “के तिमीहरू बुझ्दछौ मैले तिमीहरूका निम्ति के गरेको छु? BSB BSB: When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His outer garments, He reclined with them again and asked, “Do you know what I have done for you?
13 UDB तिमीहरू मलाई ‘गुरु’ र ‘प्रभु’ भन्छौ। तिमीहरूले यो ठिकै भन्छौ, किनकि म त्यही हुँ। BSB BSB: You call Me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, because I am.
14 UDB यदि म, तिमीहरूका गुरु र प्रभु, ले तिमीहरूको पाउहरू धोएको छु भने, तिमीहरूले पनि एक अर्काका पाउहरु धुनुपर्छ। BSB BSB: So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.
15 UDB मैले तिमीहरूलाई गर्नलाई यसकारणले एउटा उदाहरण दिएको हो कि मैले तिमीहरूका निम्ति गरे जस्तै तिमीहरूले पनि गर्नुपर्छ। BSB BSB: I have set you an example so that you should do as I have done for you.
16 UDB म तिमीहरूलाई सत्य भन्दै छु: एक सेवक उसको मालिकभन्दा महान हुँदैन, न एक सन्देशवाहक नै उसलाई पठाउँनेभन्दा महान हुन्छ। BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
17 UDB यदि तिमीहरूलाई यी कुराहरू थाहा छन् भने, यदि तिमीहरूले ती गर्यौ भने, तिमीहरू कति धन्यका हुने छौ। BSB BSB: If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
18 UDB तिमीहरू सबैका बारेमा मैले यसो भनिरहेको छैन। मैले चुनेकाहरूलाई म चिन्दछु। तापनि, धर्मशास्त्रमा जे लेखिएको छ त्यो पुूरा हुनैपर्छ ‘एकजना जसले एउटा मित्रको हैसियतले मसँगै मेरो खाना खायो, ऊ मेरो विरूद्धमा खडा भयो र मलाई एउटा शत्रु जस्तो व्यवहार गर्यो।’ BSB BSB: I am not speaking about all of you; I know whom I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the Scripture: ‘The one who shares My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’
19 UDB म तिमीहरूलाई यो अहिले उसले मलाई सुम्पिदिनुभन्दा पहिले भन्दैछु ता कि जब यो हुन आउँछ, तब तिमीहरूले विश्वास गर्न सक कि म परमेश्वर हुँ। BSB BSB: I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it comes to pass, you will believe that I am He.
20 UDB म तिमीहरूलाई सत्य भन्दै छु: यदि मैले तिमीहरूकहाँ पठाएको एकजनालाई तिमीहरूले ग्रहण गर्छौ भने, तिमीहरूले मलाई नै ग्रहण गर्दै छौ; र जसले मलाई ग्रहण गर्छ, त्यसले पठाउनुहुने मेरो पितालाई पनि ग्रहण गर्दै छ।” BSB BSB: Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever receives the one I send receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives the One who sent Me.”
21 UDB येशूले यसोो भनेपछि, उहाँ आफ्नो अन्तस्करणमा विचलित हुनुभयो। उहाँले गम्भीर भएर भन्नुभयो, “म तिमीहरूलाई सत्य भन्दै छु: तिमीहरूमध्ये एकजनाले मलाई मेरो शत्रुहरूको हातमा सुम्पिदिन जाँदै छ।” BSB BSB: After Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit and testified, “Truly, truly, I tell you, one of you will betray Me.”
22 UDB चेलाहरूले एक अर्कालाई हेरे। तिनीहरूमध्ये कसको बारेमा उहाँले भन्दै हुनुहुन्थ्यो भनी तिनीहरू अलमलमा परे। BSB BSB: The disciples looked at one another, perplexed as to which of them He meant.
23 UDB चेलाहरूमध्ये एकजना, यूहन्ना, जसलाई येशूले विशेष रूपमा प्रेम गर्नुहुन्थ्यो, येशूको टेबलको नजीक थिए। BSB BSB: One of His disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at His side.
24 UDB सिमोन पत्रुसले यूहन्नालाई ईशारा गरे कि उहाँले भन्दै गर्नुभएको चेला कुन हो भनी तिनले येशूलाई सोधून्। BSB BSB: So Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus which one He was talking about.
25 UDB यसैले यूहन्ना येशूमा अडेस लागे र उहाँलाई बिस्तारै सोधे, “प्रभु, त्यो को हो?” BSB BSB: Leaning back against Jesus, he asked, “Lord, who is it?”
26 UDB येशूले जवाफ दिनुभयो, “त्यो एकजना हो, जसलाई यो रोटीको टुक्रो मैले कचौरामा चोपेपछि म यो दिने छु।” त्यसपछि उहाँले रोटी चोप्नुभयो र त्यो सिमोन इस्करियोतका छोरा यहूदलाई दिनुभयो। BSB BSB: Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this morsel after I have dipped it.” Then He dipped the morsel and gave it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot.
27 UDB यहूदाले रोटीको टुक्रा लिनेबित्तकै शैतान ऊ भित्र पस्यो र उसलाई अधीन गर्यो। येशूले उसलाई भन्नुभयो, “तिमीले जे गर्नु आवश्यक छ, त्यो चाँडै गर।” BSB BSB: And when Judas had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to Judas, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”
28 UDB येशूले त्यसलाई किन त्यसो भन्नुभएको थियो भनी टेबलमा भएकाहरू कसैले पनि जानेनन्। BSB BSB: But no one at the table knew why Jesus had said this to him.
29 UDB कसैले विचार गरे कि यहूदाले पैसको झोला राख्ने गरेको कारणले येशूले उसलाई जान र निस्तार-चाडको लागि आवश्यक पर्ने केही कुराहरू किन्न भन्दै हुनुहुन्थ्यो। अरूहरूले विचार गरे कि गरीबहरूलाई केही कुरा दिन येशूले यहुदलाई भन्दै हुनुहुन्थ्यो। BSB BSB: Since Judas kept the money bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the feast, or to give something to the poor.
30 UDB रोटी लिई सकेपछि, तुरुन्तै यहूदा बाहिर गयो। यो रातको समय थियो। BSB BSB: As soon as he had received the morsel, Judas went out into the night.
31 UDB यहूदाले छोडेपछि, येशूले भन्नुभयो, “अब म, मानिसको पुत्रले के गर्दै छु, त्यो परमेश्वरले मानिसहरूलाई जानकारी दिनुहुने छ। परमेश्वरले के गर्दै हुनुहुन्छ, त्यो म, मानिसको पुत्रले मानिसहरूलाई जानकारी दिने छु, र त्यसको लागि मानिसहरूले उहाँको प्रशंसा गर्ने छन्। BSB BSB: When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.
32 UDB म, मानिसको पुत्रले, मानिसहरूलाई परमेश्वर चिनाउने हुनाले र मैले उहाँको आदर गर्ने हुनाले, परमेश्वरले पनि मेरो आदर गर्नुहुने छ। परमेश्वरले यो तुरुन्तै गर्नुहुने छ। BSB BSB: If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify the Son in Himself—and will glorify Him at once.
33 UDB साना बालकहरू, म तिमीहरूसँग अलिबेरसम्म मात्र छु। तिमीहरूले मलाई खोज्ने छौ; तर, मैले यहूदीहरूलाई भने जस्तै, र म अहिले तिमीहरूलाई भन्दै छु, जहाँ म जाँदै छु, तिमीहरू आउन सक्दैनौ। BSB BSB: Little children, I am with you only a little while longer. You will look for Me, and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’
35 UDB यदि तिमीहरूले एक अर्कालाई प्रेम गर्छौ भने, तिमीहरू मेरा चेलाहरू हौ भनी सबै मानिसहरूले जान्ने छन्।” BSB BSB: By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
36 UDB सिमोन पत्रुसले उहाँलाई सोधे, “प्रभु, तपाईं कहाँ जाँदै हुनुहुन्छ?” येशूले जवाफ दिनुभयो, “जहाँ म जाँदैछु, तिमी अहिले मसँग आउन सक्दैनौ; तर पछि तिमी आउने छौ।” BSB BSB: “Lord, where are You going?” Simon Peter asked. Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later.”
37 UDB पत्रुसले सोधे, “प्रभु, किन म अहिले तपाईंसँग आउन सक्दिन? म तपाईंको लागि मेरो जीवन नै त्याग्छु?” BSB BSB: “Lord,” said Peter, “why can’t I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You.”
38 UDB येशूले जवाफ दिनुभयो, “के तिमी साँच्चै मेरो निम्ति तिम्रो जीवन नै त्याग्छौ, पत्रुस? म तिमीलाई सत्य भन्दै छुः तिमीले मलाई चिन्दैनौ भनेर तिमीले तीन पल्ट भन्नुअघि बिहानको भाले बास्ने छैन!” BSB BSB: “Will you lay down your life for Me?” Jesus replied. “Truly, truly, I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.
