1 UDB ହେ ଭାଇ ଓ ଭଉଣୀମାନେ, ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ମରଣ କରାଇବାକୁ ଚାହେଁ ଯେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଯିହୁଦୀ ପିତୃପୁରୁଷମାନେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଅନୁସରଣ କଲେ, ଯିଏ ଦିବସରେ ମେଘ ସ୍ତମ୍ଭ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ମିସର ଦେଶରୁ କଢାଇ ଆଣିଲେ I ଆଉ ସମସ୍ତେ ସମୁଦ୍ର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଶୁଷ୍କ ପଥ ଦେଇ ଗମନ କରାଇଲେ I BSB BSB: I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud, and that they all passed through the sea.
2 UDB ଯେପରି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କଠାରେ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହୋଇଅଛୁ, ସେହିପରି ମେଘ ଏବଂ ସମୁଦ୍ର ମଧ୍ୟ ଦେଇ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁସରଣ କରିଥିବା, ପୁଣି, ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟ ମୋଶାଙ୍କ ଅନୁସରଣ କଲେ I BSB BSB: They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
3 UDB ଆଉ ସମସ୍ତେ ଅତି ଉତ୍ତମ ପ୍ରାକୃତିକ ମାନ୍ନା ଭୋଜନ କଲେ ଯାହା ଈଶ୍ୱର ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଲେ I BSB BSB: They all ate the same spiritual food
4 UDB ଓ ସମସ୍ତେ ମୋଶା ଶୈଳକୁ ଆଘାତ କରିବା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଈଶ୍ୱର ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଇଥିବା ଏକ ଅତି ଉତ୍ତମ ପ୍ରାକୃତିକ ଜଳ ପାନ କଲେ I ଆଉ ସେହି ଶୈଳ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଥିଲେ I BSB BSB: and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
5 UDB ତଥାପି ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅଧିକାଂଶଙ୍କଠାରେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ସନ୍ତୋଷ ନ ଥିଲା, କାରଣ ସେମାନେ ଅନ୍ୟ ଦେବତାମାନଙ୍କ ଉପାସନା କରି ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧାଚରଣ କଲେ I ତେଣୁ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମୃତ ଶରୀର ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରେ ପଡି ରହିଲା I BSB BSB: Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the wilderness.
6 UDB ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ଦୃଷ୍ଟାନ୍ତ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ହୋଇଅଛି, ତେଣୁ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମନ୍ଦ ବିଷୟରେ ଅଭିଳାଷୀ ହେବା ନାହିଁ, ଯେପରି ସେମାନେ ହେଲେ I BSB BSB: These things took place as examples to keep us from craving evil things as they did.
7 UDB ଆମର ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କେତେକ ପ୍ରତିମାପୂଜା କଲେ I ଯେପରି ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଲେଖାଅଛି, "ଲୋକମାନେ ଭୋଜନପାନ କରିବାକୁ ବସିଲେ ଓ ଅଶ୍ଳୀଳ ଭାବେ ନୃତ୍ୟ କରିବାକୁ ଉଠିଲେ I" BSB BSB: Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”
8 UDB ଅନୈତିକ ବ୍ୟଭିଚାର କରିବାରୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଯିହୁଦୀ ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତେଇଶ ହଜାର ଲୋକ ଏକ ଦିନରେ ମରିଗଲେ I BSB BSB: We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.
9 UDB ଆମର ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କେତେକ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ପରୀକ୍ଷା କରି ସର୍ପ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେଲେ, ସେପରି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଅବାଧ୍ୟ ହୋଇ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ପରୀକ୍ଷା ନ କରୁ I BSB BSB: We should not test Christ, as some of them did, and were killed by snakes.
10 UDB ଯେପରି ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କେତେକ ଲୋକ ବଚସା କରି ସଂହାରକ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେଲେ, ସେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବଚସା କର ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel.
11 UDB ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପିତୃପୁରୁଷଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଘଟିଲା, ଆଉ ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କ ସମୟରେ ଯୁଗାନ୍ତ କାଳ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇଅଛି, ଏପରି ଯେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେପରି ଶିକ୍ଷାପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେବୁ ସେଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ଲେଖାଯାଇଅଛି I BSB BSB: Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.
12 UDB ଏଣୁ, ଶିକ୍ଷା ଏହି ଯେ, ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣାକୁ ବଳବାନ ଓ ସ୍ଥିର ବୋଲି ମନେ କର, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେପରି ପତିତ ନ ହୁଅ ଏଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ସାବଧାନ ହୁଅ I BSB BSB: So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.
13 UDB ସମସ୍ତ ପରୀକ୍ଷା ଯାହା ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରୁଅଛ; ସେଥିର ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ସହଭାଗୀ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଈଶ୍ୱର ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଅଛନ୍ତି ଓ ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପାପ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତୁମର ଶକ୍ତିଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ପରୀକ୍ଷାରେ ପରୀକ୍ଷିତ ହେବାକୁ ଦେବେ ନାହିଁ I ଯେତେବେଳେ ପରୀକ୍ଷା ଆସେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେପରି ସହ୍ୟ କରି ପାର, ସେଥିପାଇଁ ଈଶ୍ୱର ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଧାରର ପଥ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିବେ I BSB BSB: No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
14 UDB ଅତଏବ, ହେ ମୋହର ପ୍ରିୟମାନେ, ପ୍ରତିମା ପୂଜାରୁ ପଳାୟନ କର I BSB BSB: Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 UDB ଯତ୍ନପୂର୍ବକ ଜୀବନ ଯାପନ କରୁଥିବା ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା ପରି ମୁଁ କହୁଅଛି; ମୁଁ ଯାହା କହୁଅଛି, ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ନିଜେ ବିଚାର କର I BSB BSB: I speak to reasonable people; judge for yourselves what I say.
16 UDB ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାପାତ୍ରରୁ ପାନ କରୁ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ପାଉ I ସେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ରକ୍ତର ସହଭାଗୀ ଅଟୁ I ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ରୋଟୀ ଭାଙ୍ଗୁ, ସେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ଶରୀରର ସହଭାଗୀ ଅଟୁ I BSB BSB: Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
17 UDB କାରଣ ରୋଟୀ ଏକ ହେବାରୁ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଅନେକ ହେଲେ ହେଁ ଏକ ଶରୀର ସ୍ୱରୂପ, ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ସେହି ଏକ ରୋଟୀର ଅଂଶୀ I BSB BSB: Because there is one loaf, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf.
18 UDB ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ବିବେଚନା କର I ଯେଉଁମାନେ ବେଦିରେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗୀକୃତ ବଳି ମାଂସ ଭୋଜନ କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ବେଦିର ସହଭାଗୀ ଅଟନ୍ତି I BSB BSB: Consider the people of Israel: Are not those who eat the sacrifices fellow partakers in the altar?
19 UDB ତେଣୁ ମୁଁ କହୁଅଛି ଯେ ପ୍ରତିମା ବୋଲି କିଛି ନାହିଁ ବା ଦେବପ୍ରସାଦ ବୋଲି କିଛି ନାହିଁ I କିନ୍ତୁ ଏଠାରେ ଏକ ବିଶେଷ ବିଷୟ ଅଛି I BSB BSB: Am I suggesting, then, that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20 UDB ମୋହର ଅର୍ଥ ଏହି ଯେ; ଯେତେବେଳେ ଅଣଯିହୂଦୀମାନେ ଆପଣା ବଳି ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରନ୍ତି, ସେହି ସବୁ ସେମାନେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ ନ କରି ଭୂତମାନଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ କରନ୍ତି I ଆଉ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେ ଭୂତମାନଙ୍କ ସହଭାଗୀ ହୁଅ, ଏହା ମୋହର ଇଚ୍ଛା ନୁହେଁ I BSB BSB: No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons.
21 UDB ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପାନପାତ୍ର ଓ ଭୂତମାନଙ୍କ ପାନପାତ୍ର ଉଭୟରେ ପାନ କରି ପାର ନାହିଁ; ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ମେଜ ଓ ଭୂତମାନଙ୍କ ମେଜ ଉଭୟର ଅଂଶୀ ହୋଇ ପାର ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot partake in the table of the Lord and the table of demons too.
22 UDB ଏହିପରି କରି ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ବିରକ୍ତି ଜନ୍ମାଉ ଅଛୁ I ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କି ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ବଳବାନ ନୁହଁ! BSB BSB: Are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
23 UDB କେତେକ କୁହନ୍ତି, "ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ବିଧିସଙ୍ଗତ," ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ କିମ୍ବା ଅନ୍ୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ହିତଜନକ ନୁହେଁ I ହଁ, "ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ବିଧିସଙ୍ଗତ," କିନ୍ତୁ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆପଣା ଜୀବନରେ ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ସହିତ ବଳିଷ୍ଠ ଭାବରେ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ କରି ନ ଥାଏ I BSB BSB: “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is edifying.
24 UDB କେବଳ ନିଜର ମଙ୍ଗଳ ନିମନ୍ତେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କର ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଜଣ ଅନ୍ୟର ମଙ୍ଗଳ ନିମନ୍ତେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରୁ I BSB BSB: No one should seek his own good, but the good of others.
25 UDB ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବିଧି ଏହି: ବଜାରରେ ଯାହା ବିକ୍ରୟ ହୁଏ, ଏହା ପ୍ରତିମା ନିକଟରେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରାଯାଇଅଛି କି ନା ବୋଲି ବିବେକ ସକାଶେ କିଛି ନ ପଚାରି ତାହା କିଣ ଓ ଭୋଜନ କର I BSB BSB: Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,
26 UDB ଯେପରି ଗୀତରଚକ କହନ୍ତି, "ମର୍ତ୍ତ୍ୟ ଓ ସେଥିରେ ଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର I" BSB BSB: for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”
27 UDB ଅବିଶ୍ୱାସୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେହି ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ନିମନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କରେ, ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯିବାକୁ ଇଚ୍ଛା କର, ତେବେ ଯାହା କିଛି ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରିବେଷଣ କରନ୍ତି, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କେଉଁଠାରୁ କିଣିଅଛ ବୋଲି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାର ବୋଲି ଈଶ୍ୱର ଇଚ୍ଛା କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat anything set before you without raising questions of conscience.
28 UDB କିନ୍ତୁ କେହି ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହେ, "ଏହା ପ୍ରତିମା ନିକଟରେ ବଳି ସ୍ୱରୂପେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗୀକୃତ ହୋଇଅଛି," ତେବେ ଯେ ଏହା ଜଣାଇଲା, ତାହାର ସକାଶେ ଓ ବିବେକ ସକାଶେ ତାହା ଭୋଜନ କର ନାହିଁ; BSB BSB: But if someone tells you, “This food was offered to idols,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience—
29 UDB ତୁମ୍ଭ ନିଜ ବିବେକ ସକାଶେ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ କହୁ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ତା'ର ବିବେକ ସକାଶେ I ମୋହର ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଗତ ପସନ୍ଦ ଅନ୍ୟର ବିବେକ ସକାଶୁ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ହେବ ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: the other one’s conscience, I mean, not your own. For why should my freedom be determined by someone else’s conscience?
30 UDB ଯଦି ମୁଁ ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ଦେଇ ଭୋଜନ କରେ, ତେବେ ଯାହା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ଦିଏ, ତାହା ନିମନ୍ତେ ନିନ୍ଦିତ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: If I partake in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks?
31 UDB ଅତଏବ ନିୟମ ଏହି ଯେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଭୋଜନ କର କି ପାନ କର ଯାହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରିବେଷଣ କରାଯାଏ ଅବା ଯାହା କିଛି କର, ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଗୌରବ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସବୁ କର I BSB BSB: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
32 UDB ଯିହୂଦୀ ବା ଗ୍ରୀକ୍ ବା ଈଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ମଣ୍ଡଳୀ, କାହାରି ଝୁଣ୍ଟିବାର କାରଣ ହୁଅ ନାହିଁ I BSB BSB: Do not become a stumbling block, whether to Jews or Greeks or the church of God—
33 UDB ଯେପରି ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ମୋହର ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥ ଚେଷ୍ଟା ନ କରି ଅନେକଙ୍କ ପରିତ୍ରାଣ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରେ, ପୁଣି, ସବୁ ବିଷୟରେ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ କରିବାକୁ ଯତ୍ନ କରେ I BSB BSB: as I also try to please everyone in all I do. For I am not seeking my own good, but the good of many, that they may be saved.
