ULB Hoy aho anakampo hoe: "Manatòna izao, hitsapa anao amin'ny hafaliana aho. Ka tiava fahafinaretana." BSB BSB: I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy what is good!” But it proved to be futile.
ULB Fa indro, tsio-drivotra mandalo ihany izany. Hoy aho tamin'ny fihomehezana hoe: "Fahadalana izany," ary tamin'ny fahafinaretana hoe: "Inona no ilàna izany?" BSB BSB: I said of laughter, “It is folly,” and of pleasure, “What does it accomplish?”
ULB Nizaha ny tao am-poko aho hoe ahoana no hahitako fahafinaretana amin'ny divay. Avelako tarihin'ny saiko amin'ny fahendrena aho na dia mbola voatazona tamin'ny hadalana ihany aza aho. Te hahita izay tsara ho an'ny olona mba hatao ety ambanin'ny lanitra aho mandritr'ireo andro hiainany. BSB BSB: I sought to cheer my body with wine and to embrace folly—my mind still guiding me with wisdom—until I could see what was worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.
ULB Nanatanteraka zavatra lehibe aho. Nanangana trano ho ahy aho ary namboly teo amin'ireo tanim-boaloboka. BSB BSB: I expanded my pursuits. I built houses and planted vineyards for myself.
ULB Nanangana zaridaina sy saha ho an'ny tenako aho; namboly ireo karazan-kazo rehetra fihinam-boa teo amin'izany aho. BSB BSB: I made gardens and parks for myself, where I planted all kinds of fruit trees.
ULB Namorona farihin-drano mba hamatsiana rano ireo ala izay nitomboan'ireo hazo aho. BSB BSB: I built reservoirs to water my groves of flourishing trees.
ULB Novidiko ireo andevo lahy sy ireo andevo vavy; nanana andevo teraka tao an-dapako aho. Nanana omby maro sy ondry aman'osy ho biby fiompy ihany koa aho, betsaka mihoatra noho ny an'ireo mpanjaka izay nanapaka teo alohako tao Jerosalema. BSB BSB: I acquired menservants and maidservants, and servants were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me,
ULB Nanangona volafotsy sy volamena, ny haren'ireo mpanjaka sy ireo faritany ho an'ny tenako ihany koa aho. Nanana mpihira lahy sy vavy ho an'ny tenako manokana aho— ireo fahafinaretan'ny zanak'olombelona—ary vaditsindrano maro. BSB BSB: and I accumulated for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I gathered to myself male and female singers, and the delights of the sons of men—many concubines.
ULB Dia lasa lehibe sy mpanakarena mihoatra noho ireo rehetra izay teo alohako tao Jerosalema aho, ary ny fahendreko nitoetra tamiko. BSB BSB: So I became great and surpassed all in Jerusalem who had preceded me; and my wisdom remained with me.
ULB Na inona na inona nirian'ny masoko, dia tsy nohazoniko tamin'izy ireo. Tsy nihazona ny foko tamin'ny fahafinaretana rehetra ny aho, satria ny foko dia nifaly tamin'ny asako rehetra ary ny fahafinaretana no valisoako tamin'ny asako rehetra. BSB BSB: Anything my eyes desired, I did not deny myself. I refused my heart no pleasure. For my heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
ULB Dia nijery ireo asa rehetra vitan'ny tanako aho, sy ireo fisasarana izay nataoko, fa ny zava-drehetra dia entona sy fikasana hanohitra ny rivotra indray. Tsy nisy tombon-tsoa tamin'izany tety ambanin'ny masoandro. BSB BSB: Yet when I considered all the works that my hands had accomplished and what I had toiled to achieve, I found everything to be futile, a pursuit of the wind; there was nothing to be gained under the sun.
ULB Avy eo dia nitodika aho mba hihevitra ny fahendrena, ary koa ny fahaverezan-tsaina sy ny fahadalana. Fa inona no azon'ny mpanjaka ho avy handimby ny mpanjaka atao, izay tsy mbola tanteraka? BSB BSB: Then I turned to consider wisdom and madness and folly; for what more can the king’s successor do than what has already been accomplished?
ULB Dia nanomboka nihanazava ny saiko fa ny fahendrena dia ahazoana tombony kokoa noho ny fahadalana, tahaka ny fahazavana tsara kokoa noho ny aizina. BSB BSB: And I saw that wisdom exceeds folly, just as light exceeds darkness:
ULB Ny olon-kendry dia mampiasa ny masony eo amin'ny lohany mba hijerena ny lalan-kalehany, fa ny adala dia mandeha amin'ny maizina, na dia fantatro aza fa lahatra mitovy ihany no ho an'ny olon-drehetra. BSB BSB: The wise man has eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. Yet I also came to realize that one fate overcomes them both.
ULB Dia hoy aho tao am-poko hoe: "Izay manjo ny adala, dia hanjo ahy ihany koa. Koa inona no maha-samihafa izany raha ho tena hendry aho?" Dia nofeheziko tao am-poko hoe: "Ity koa dia entona fotsiny ihany." BSB BSB: So I said to myself, “The fate of the fool will also befall me. What then have I gained by being wise?” And I said to myself that this too is futile.
ULB Fa ny olon-kendry, tahaka ny adala, dia tsy ho tsaroina ela akory. Ho avy ny andro izay hanadinoina ny zava-drehetra. Ny olon-kendry dia maty tahaka ny mahafaty ny adala. BSB BSB: For there is no lasting remembrance of the wise, just as with the fool, seeing that both will be forgotten in the days to come. Alas, the wise man will die just like the fool!
ULB Ka dia nankahala ny fiainana aho satria ireo asa rehetra izay vita teo ambany masoandro dia ratsy tamiko. Izany dia satria ny zava-drehetra dia entona sy fikasana hanohitra ny rivotra. BSB BSB: So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. For everything is futile and a pursuit of the wind.
ULB Halako avokoa ireo fisasarako rehetra izay niasako teny ambany masoandro satria dia tsy maintsy mamela ireny any aoriana ho an'izay lehilahy ho avy manaraka ahy aho. BSB BSB: I hated all for which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me.
ULB Fa iza no mahalala na ho olo-kendry izy na ho adala? Nefa izy dia ho tompo eran'ny zava-drehetra ambany masoandro izay natsangan'ny fisasarako sy ny fahendreko. Entona ihany koa izany. BSB BSB: And who knows whether that man will be wise or foolish? Yet he will take over all the labor at which I have worked skillfully under the sun. This too is futile.
ULB Noho izany dia nanomboka namoy fo tamin'ireo asa rehetra izay nataoko teo ambany masoandro aho. BSB BSB: So my heart began to despair over all the labor that I had done under the sun.
ULB Fa mety misy ny olona izay misasatra amin'ny fahendrena, amin'ny fahalalana, ary amin'ny fahaiza-manao, fa havelany ho an'ny lehilahy izay tsy nanao na iray tamin'ireo aza ny zava-drehetra hananany. Izany koa dia entona sy loza lehibe. BSB BSB: When there is a man who has labored with wisdom, knowledge, and skill, and he must give his portion to a man who has not worked for it, this too is futile and a great evil.
ULB Fa inona no tombon-tsoa azon'ny olona izay miasa mafy sy miezaka manao amin'ny fony ireo asany eo ambany masoandro? BSB BSB: For what does a man get for all the toil and striving with which he labors under the sun?
ULB Isan'andro dia maharary sady mampiady saina ny asany, ka dia tsy mahita fitsaharana ny fanahiny amin'ny alina. Izany koa dia entona. BSB BSB: Indeed, all his days are filled with grief, and his task is sorrowful; even at night, his mind does not rest. This too is futile.
ULB Tsy misy zavatra tsara amin'ny olona mihoatran'ny hoe mihinana sy misotro fotsiny ary afa-po amin'izay tsara amin'ny asany. Dia nahita aho fa avy amin'ny tanan'Andriamanitra izany marina izany. BSB BSB: Nothing is better for a man than to eat and drink and enjoy his work. I have also seen that this is from the hand of God.
ULB Fa iza no afaka hihinana na iza no afaka hanana fahafinaretana isan-karazany ankoatry ny avy amin'Andriamanitra? BSB BSB: For apart from Him, who can eat and who can find enjoyment?
ULB Fa izay mahafaly Azy, dia homen'Andriamanitra fahendrena sy fahalalana ary fifaliana. Kanefa, ny mpanota dia omeny ny asa fanangonana sy fitehirizana mba hahafahany manome izany ho an'ny olona izay mahafaly an'Andriamanitra. Izany koa dia anisan'ny entona sy fikasana hanohitra ny rivotra. BSB BSB: To the man who is pleasing in His sight, He gives wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner He assigns the task of gathering and accumulating that which he will hand over to one who pleases God. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.
