1Ny valin-teny malefaka dia mamily ny fahatezerana, fa ny teny masiaka manetsika fahasosorana.A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

2Ny lelan'ny hendry mandoka fahalalana, fa ny vavan'ny adala kosa mandraraka fahadalana.The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool spouts folly.

3Fa amin'izao rehetra izao ny mason'i Yaveh, mandinika ny ratsy sy ny tsara.The eyes of the LORD are in every place, observing the evil and the good.

4Ny lela manasitrana dia hazon'aina, fa ny lela mpamitaka dia manorotoro ny fanahy.A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

5Ny adala manamavo ny fananaran-drainy, fa izay mandray ny fanitsiana no malina.A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction is prudent.

6Ao an-tranon'ny olo-marina no misy harena be, fa fidiram-bolan'ny ratsy fanahy manome fahoriana azy.The house of the righteous has great treasure, but the income of the wicked is trouble.

7Ny molotry ny hendry manaparitaka fahalalana, fa tsy mba toy izany kosa ny fon'ireo adala.The lips of the wise spread knowledge, but not so the hearts of fools.

8Mankahala ny soron'ireo olona ratsy fanahy Yaveh, fa fahafinaretany kosa ny vavaky ny olona mahitsy.The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.

9Mankahala ny fomban'ireo olona ratsy fanahy Yaveh, fa tia ilay iray izay manaraka ny marina Izy.The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but He loves those who pursue righteousness.

10Miandry ny olona izay mahafoy ny lalana ny sazy mafy ary izay mankahala famaizana dia ho faty.Discipline is harsh for him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die.

11Ny fiainan-tsy hita sy fandringanana aza misokatra eo anatrehan'i Yaveh; koa mainka fa ny fon'ny zanak'olombelona?Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD—how much more the hearts of men!

12Ny mpaneso sosotra amin'ny fananarana azy; tsy handeha any amin'ny hendry izy.A mocker does not love to be reproved, nor will he consult the wise.

13Ny fo ravoravo mahamirana ny tarehy, fa ny aretim-po kosa manorotoro ny fanahy.A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance, but sorrow of the heart crushes the spirit.

14Ny fon'ny manan-tsaina mitady fahalalana, fa ny vavan'ireo adala homana fahadalana ihany.A discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

15Fadiranovana avokoa ireo andron'ny ory rehetra, fa ny fo miramirana dia fanasana tsy manam-petra.All the days of the oppressed are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.

16Aleo kely amin'ny tahotra an'i Yaveh toy izay harem-be amin'ny ahiahy.Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure with turmoil.

17Aleo kokoa sakafo misy anana izay misy fitiavana toy izay omby mifahy aroso amim-pankahalana.Better a dish of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox with hatred.

18Ny olona mora tezitra manetsika ady, fa ny olona izay mahatsindry fo mampitsahatra fifandirana.A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger calms dispute.

19Ny lalan'ny kamo dia tahaka ny toerana misy fefy tsilo, fa ny lalan'ny mahitsy dia lalam-be voavoatra tsara.The way of the slacker is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.

20Ny zanaka hendry dia mitondra fifaliana ho an'ny rainy, fa ny olona adala manao tsinotsinona ny reniny.A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.

21Mahafinaritra ny olona tsy ampy saina ny adalana, fa izay manana fahazavan-tsaina mandeha amin'ny lalan-mahitsy.Folly is joy to one who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding walks a straight path.

22Mandamoka ireo tetika rehefa tsy misy torohevitra, saingy rehefa miaraka amin'ny mpanolon-tsaina maro dia nahomby ireo.Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

23Mahita hafaliana ny olona iray rehefa manome valiny mahafa-po izy; endrey ny hatsaran'ny teny izay voalaza ara-potoana!A man takes joy in a fitting reply—and how good is a timely word!

24Mitondra miakatra ho an'ny olon-kendry ny lalan'ny fiainana, mba hialan'izy ireo amin'ny Fiainan-tsy hita any ambany.The path of life leads upward for the wise, that he may avoid going down to Sheol.

25Ho potehin'i Yaveh ny lovan'ny mpirehareha, fa miaro ny fananan'ny mpitondratena kosa Izy.The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but He protects the boundaries of the widow.

26Mankahala ny fisainan'ireo olona ratsy fanahy Yaveh, fa ireo tenin'ny fahatsaram-panahy dia madio.The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the words of the pure are pleasant to Him.

27Mitondra olana ho an'ny fianakaviany ny mpangalatra, fa ny olona izay mankahala tsolotra dia ho velona.He who is greedy for unjust gain brings trouble on his household, but he who hates bribes will live.

28Ny fon'ny marina dia misaintsaina mialohan'ny hamaliany, fa ny vavan'ny ratsy fanahy kosa miboiboika ny ratsy ao aminy.The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked blurts out evil.

29Lavitra ireo ratsy fanahy Yaveh, fa mandre ny vavaky ny olo-marina kosa Izy.The LORD is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

30Ny fahazavan'ny maso mitondra fifaliana ho an'ny fo ary ny vaovao tsara dia fahasalamana ho an'ny vatana.The light of the eyes cheers the heart, and good news nourishes the bones.

31Raha mankatoa ianao rehefa manitsy ny fomba fiainanao ny olona, dia hitoetra eo amin'ireo olona hendry ianao.He who listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise.

32Izay mandà famaizana dia manao tsinontsinona ny tenany, fa izay mihaino anatra kosa dia mahazo fahazavan-tsaina.He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding.

33Mampianatra fahendrena ny tahotra an'i Yaveh ary fanetren-tena no mialoha ny voninahitra.The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and humility comes before honor.
