Proverbs 21 (ULB)

1Ny fon'ny mpanjaka dia rano mikoriana eo an-tanan'i Yaveh; aviliny eny amin'izay itiavany azy izany.The king’s heart is a waterway in the hand of the LORD; He directs it where He pleases.

2Ny lalan'olona rehetra dia mahitsy eo imasony ihany, fa Yaveh no mandanja ny fo.All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.

3Izay manao ny marina sy mahitsy dia sitrak'i Yaveh kokoa mihoatra ny sorona.To do righteousness and justice is more desirable to the LORD than sacrifice.

4Ny fiavonavon'ny maso sy fireharehan'ny fo—ny jiron'ny ratsy fanahy— dia fahotana.Haughty eyes and a proud heart—the guides of the wicked—are sin.

5Ireo fikasan'ny mazoto dia mitarika makany amin'ny fanambinana ihany, fa ny olona rehetra izay maimaika loatra dia tonga amin'ny fahantrana ihany.The plans of the diligent bring plenty, as surely as haste leads to poverty.

6Ny fihariana harena amin'ny lela mandainga dia entona mihelina ary fandrika mamono.Making a fortune by a lying tongue is a vanishing mist, a deadly pursuit.

7Ny herisetran'ny ratsy fanahy dia hisintona azy ireo, satria mandà ny hanao izay rariny izy ireo.The violence of the wicked will sweep them away because they refuse to do what is just.

8Miolakolaka ny lalan'ny olona meloka, fa ny olona izay madio dia manao izay marinaThe way of a guilty man is crooked, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

9Aleo kokoa mipetraka eo amin'ny zoron'ny tafo toy izay miray trano amin'ny vady mpila ady.Better to live on a corner of the roof than to share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

10Ny hanoanan'ny ratsy fanahy dia maniry fatratra ny ratsy; tsy mahita fahatsarana eo amin'ny masony ireo namany izy.The soul of the wicked man craves evil; his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes.

11Rehefa faizina ny mpaniratsira, dia ho hendry ny kely saina, ary rehefa anarina ny olona hendry, dia hihazona fahalalana izy.When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; and when a wise man is instructed, he acquires knowledge.

12Mandinika ny tranon'ny olona ratsy fanahy ny olo-marina; mitondra ny olona ratsy fanahy ho amin'ny loza izy.The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin.

13Ny olona izay manampina ny sofiny amin'ny fitarainan'ny mahantra, dia mbola hitaraina ihany koa, saingy tsy hisy hamaly azy.Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too shall cry out and receive no answer.

14Ny fanomezana mangingina mampitony ny hatezerana ary ny fanomezana miafina dia mampilefy ny fahatezerana mafy.A gift in secret soothes anger, and a covert bribe pacifies great wrath.

15Rehefa vita ny fitsarana, dia mitondra fifaliana ho an'ny olo-marina izany, saingy mitondra horohoro ho an'ireo mpanao ratsy izany.Justice executed is a joy to the righteous, but a terror to the workers of iniquity.

17Izay tia fahafinaretana dia hahantra; izay tia divay sy diloilo dia tsy hanan-karena.He who loves pleasure will become poor; the one who loves wine and oil will never be rich.

18Ny olona ratsy fanahy dia solovaika ho an'ny olo-marina, ary ny olona mpamitaka dia vidim-panavotana ho an'ny olona mahitsy.The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the faithless for the upright.

19Aleo mitoetra any an-tany efitra toy izay miaraka amin'ny vady mpifanditra sy tezitra.Better to live in the desert than with a contentious and ill-tempered wife.

20Harena sarobidy sy diloilo no ao an-tranon'ny hendry, fa ny olona adala kosa mandany ireo.Precious treasures and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man consumes them.

21Izay manao ny marina sy tsara fanahy— izany olona izany dia hahita ny fiainana, fahamarinana, ary voninahitra.He who pursues righteousness and loving devotion finds life, righteousness, and honor.

22Ny olona hendry mananika ny tanànan'ireo mahery, ary mandrodana ny fiarovana mafy izay nitokian'ireo.A wise man scales the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust.

23Na iza na iza miambina ny vavany sy ny lelany dia miaro ny tenany amin'ny fahoriana.He who guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from distress.

24Ny olona miavonavona sy mirehareha—"Mpaniratsira" no anarany— dia manao fihetsika feno fiavonavonana.Mocker is the name of the proud and arrogant man—of him who acts with excessive pride.

25Ny fanirian'ny kamo dia mahafaty azy, satria mandà ny hiasa ny tanany.The craving of the slacker kills him because his hands refuse to work.

26Maniry fatratra mandritra ny tontolo andro izy, fa ny olo-marina dia manome sady tsy kahihitra.All day long he covets more, but the righteous give without restraint.

27Maharikoriko ny sorona avy amin'ny ratsy fanahy; maharikoriko kokoa aza izany rehefa mitondra izany amin'ny antony ratsy izy.The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable—how much more so when brought with ill intent!

28Ho faty ny vavolombelona sandoka, fa ny olona izay mihaino dia hiteny amin'ny fotoana rehetra.A lying witness will perish, but the man who listens to truth will speak forever.

29Ny olona ratsy fanahy dia manamafy ny endriny, fa ny olona mahitsy dia matoky amin'ny lalany.A wicked man hardens his face, but the upright man makes his way sure.

30Tsy misy fahendrena, tsy misy fahalalana, ary tsy misy torohevitra afaka mijoro hanohitra an'i Yaveh.There is no wisdom, no understanding, no counsel that can prevail against the LORD.

31Ny soavaly nomanina ho amin'ny andron'ny ady, saingy an'i Yaveh ny fandresena.A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory is of the LORD.
