Proverbs 14 (ULB)

1புத்தியுள்ள பெண் தன்னுடைய வீட்டைக் கட்டுகிறாள்; புத்தியில்லாத பெண்ணோ தன்னுடைய கைகளினால் அதை இடித்துப்போடுகிறாள்.Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

2நிதானமாக நடக்கிறவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிறான்; தன்னுடைய வழிகளில் தாறுமாறானவனோ அவரை அலட்சியம்செய்கிறான்.He who walks in uprightness fears the LORD, but the one who is devious in his ways despises Him.

3மூடன் வாயிலே அவனுடைய அகந்தைக்கு ஏற்ற கோல் உண்டு; ஞானவான்களின் உதடுகளோ அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றும்.The proud speech of a fool brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

4எருதுகள் இல்லாத இடத்தில் களஞ்சியம் வெறுமையாக இருக்கும்; காளைகளின் பெலத்தினாலோ மிகுந்த வரத்துண்டு.Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but an abundant harvest comes through the strength of the ox.

5மெய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரன் பொய்சொல்லமாட்டான்; பொய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரனோ பொய்களை ஊதுகிறான்.An honest witness does not deceive, but a dishonest witness pours forth lies.

6பரியாசக்காரன் ஞானத்தைத் தேடியும் கண்டுபிடிக்கமாட்டான்; புத்தியுள்ளவனுக்கோ அறிவு லேசாகவரும்.A mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.

7மூடனுடைய முகத்தைவிட்டு விலகிப்போ; அறிவுள்ள உதடுகளை அங்கே காணமாட்டாய்.Stay away from a foolish man; you will gain no knowledge from his speech.

8தன்னுடைய வழியைச் சிந்தித்துக்கொள்வது விவேகியின் ஞானம்; மூடர்களுடைய வஞ்சனையோ மூடத்தனம்.The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way, but the folly of fools deceives them.

9மூடர்கள் பாவத்தைக்குறித்துப் பரியாசம்செய்கிறார்கள்; நீதிமான்களுக்குள்ளே தயவு உண்டு.Fools mock the making of amends, but goodwill is found among the upright.

10இருதயத்தின் கசப்பு இருதயத்திற்கே தெரியும்; அதின் மகிழ்ச்சிக்கு அந்நியன் உடந்தை ஆகமாட்டான்.The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares in its joy.

11துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வீடு அழியும்; செம்மையானவனுடைய கூடாரமோ செழிக்கும்.The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

12மனிதனுக்குச் செம்மையாகத் தோன்றுகிற வழி உண்டு; அதின் முடிவோ மரணவழிகள்.There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

13சிரிப்பிலும் மனதிற்குத் துக்கமுண்டு; அந்த மகிழ்ச்சியின் முடிவு சஞ்சலம்.Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in sorrow.

14பின்வாங்கும் இருதயமுள்ளவன் தன்னுடைய வழிகளிலேயும், நல்ல மனிதனோ தன்னிலே தானும் திருப்தியடைவான்.The backslider in heart receives the fill of his own ways, but a good man is rewarded for his ways.

15பேதையானவன் எந்த வார்த்தையையும் நம்புவான்; விவேகியோ தன்னுடைய நடையின்மேல் கவனமாக இருக்கிறான்.The simple man believes every word, but the prudent man watches his steps.

16ஞானமுள்ளவன் பயந்து தீமைக்கு விலகுகிறான்; மதியீனனோ கடுங்கோபம்கொண்டு துணிகரமாக இருக்கிறான்.A wise man fears and turns from evil, but a fool is careless and reckless.

17முன்கோபி மதிகேட்டைச் செய்வான்; கெட்டச்சிந்தனைக்காரன் வெறுக்கப்படுவான்.A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a devious man is hated.

18பேதையர்கள் புத்தியீனத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கிறார்கள்; விவேகிகளோ அறிவினால் முடிசூட்டப்படுகிறார்கள்.The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

19தீயோர்கள் நல்லவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும், துன்மார்க்கர்கள் நீதிமான்களுடைய வாசற்படிகளிலும் குனிவதுண்டு.The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20தரித்திரன் தன்னைச் சேர்ந்தவனாலும் பகைக்கப்படுகிறான்; செல்வந்தனுக்கோ அநேக நண்பர்கள் உண்டு.The poor man is hated even by his neighbor, but many are those who love the rich.

21பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறவன் பாவம்செய்கிறான்; தரித்திரனுக்கு இரங்குகிறவனோ பாக்கியமடைவான்.He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who shows kindness to the poor.

22தீமையை யோசிக்கிறவர்கள் தவறுகிறார்களல்லவோ? நன்மையை யோசிக்கிறவர்களுக்கோ கிருபையும் சத்தியமும் உண்டு.Do not those who contrive evil go astray? But those who plan goodness find loving devotion and faithfulness.

23எல்லா உழைப்பினாலும் பயனுண்டு; உதடுகளின் பேச்சோ வறுமையை மட்டும் தரும்.There is profit in all labor, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

24ஞானிகளுக்கு முடி அவர்களுடைய செல்வம்; மூடர்களின் மதியீனம் மூடத்தனமே.The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the effort of fools is folly.

25மெய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லுகிறவன் உயிர்களைக் காப்பாற்றுகிறான்; வஞ்சனைக்காரனோ பொய்களை ஊதுகிறான்.A truthful witness saves lives, but one who utters lies is deceitful.

26கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவனுக்குத் திடநம்பிக்கை உண்டு; அவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் அடைக்கலம் கிடைக்கும்.He who fears the LORD is secure in confidence, and his children shall have a place of refuge.

27கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதல் வாழ்வு தரும் ஊற்று; அதினால் மரணக்கண்ணிகளுக்குத் தப்பலாம்.The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.

28மக்கள் கூட்டம் ராஜாவின் மகிமை; மக்கள்குறைவு தலைவனின் முறிவு.A large population is a king’s splendor, but a lack of subjects is a prince’s ruin.

29நீடிய சாந்தமுள்ளவன் மகாபுத்திமான்; முன்கோபியோ புத்தியீனத்தை விளங்கச்செய்கிறான்.A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man promotes folly.

30சமாதானத்துடன் இருப்பது உடலுக்கு வாழ்வு; பொறாமையோ எலும்புருக்கி.A tranquil heart is life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

31தரித்திரனை ஒடுக்குகிறவன் அவனை உண்டாக்கினவரை நிந்திக்கிறான்; தரித்திரனுக்குத் தயவு செய்கிறவனோ அவரை மேன்மைப்படுத்துகிறான்;Whoever oppresses the poor taunts their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors Him.

32துன்மார்க்கன் தன்னுடைய தீமையிலே வாரிக்கொள்ளப்படுவான்; நீதிமானோ தன்னுடைய மரணத்திலே நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவன்.The wicked man is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous man has a refuge even in death.

33புத்திமானுடைய இருதயத்தில் ஞானம் தங்கும்; மதியீனர்களிடத்தில் உள்ளதோ வெளிப்படும்.Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning; even among fools she is known.

34நீதி மக்களை உயர்த்தும்; பாவமோ எந்த மக்களுக்கும் இகழ்ச்சி.Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

35ராஜாவின் தயவு விவேகமுள்ள பணிவிடைக்காரன்மேல் இருக்கும்; அவனுடைய கோபமோ அவமானத்தை உண்டாக்குகிறவன்மேல் இருக்கும்.A king delights in a wise servant, but his anger falls on the shameful.
