Prayer for the Son 2 WBS As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. BSB BSB: For You granted Him authority over all people, so that He may give eternal life to all those You have given Him.
4 WBS I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. BSB BSB: I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do.
Prayer for the Disciples 6 WBS I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest to me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them to me; and they have kept thy word. BSB BSB: I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
7 WBS Now they have known that all things whatever thou hast given me are from thee. BSB BSB: Now they know that everything You have given Me comes from You.
8 WBS For I have given to them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them , and have known surely that I came from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. BSB BSB: For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.
9 WBS I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them whom thou hast given to me; for they are thine. BSB BSB: I ask on their behalf. I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those You have given Me; for they are Yours.
10 WBS And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. BSB BSB: All I have is Yours, and all You have is Mine; and in them I have been glorified.
11 WBS And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thy own name those whom thou hast given to me, that they may be one, as we are . BSB BSB: I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one.
12 WBS While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest to me I have kept, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. BSB BSB: While I was with them, I protected and preserved them by Your name, the name You gave Me. Not one of them has been lost, except the son of destruction, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 WBS And now I come to thee, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. BSB BSB: But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so that they may have My joy fulfilled within them.
14 WBS I have given to them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. BSB BSB: I have given them Your word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
15 WBS I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from the evil. BSB BSB: I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.
16 WBS They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. BSB BSB: They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
17 WBS Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. BSB BSB: Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
18 WBS As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. BSB BSB: As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world.
19 WBS And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified through the truth. BSB BSB: For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the truth.
Prayer for All Believers 21 WBS That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. BSB BSB: that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 WBS And the glory which thou gavest to me, I have given to them; that they may be one, even as we are one. BSB BSB: I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one—
23 WBS I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them as thou hast loved me. BSB BSB: I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.
24 WBS Father, I will that they also whom thou hast given to me be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory which thou hast given to me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. BSB BSB: Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25 WBS O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. BSB BSB: Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me.
26 WBS And I have declared to them thy name, and will declare it : that the love with which thou hast loved me, may be in them, and I in them. BSB BSB: And I have made Your name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them.”
